Registration of trademarks is a procedure of obtaining the supporting document to the exclusive use of a distinctive element or elements with regard to the goods or services of the own company.
Upon receipt of the certificate of registration the owner of the trademark becomes an exclusive owner of the registered object and is entitled to dispose of it at its sole discretion: to use during operations, abandon the use of, sell, assign, prohibit or enable anyone to use the trademark.
The certificate of registration obtained in Azerbaijan, grants legal protection to a trademark only in the territory of Azerbaijan. To protect your trademark rights in other countries, application should be filed in every country of your interest, or an international registration procedure should be utilized.
The obtained trademark registration certificate is valid for 10 years, and then registration can be extended for the next 10 years.
